Summertime Cactus Flowers

1 / To some not familiar with desert plants, believe it or not, most cacti flower.

2 / The buds are start small and look like small black dots on the cactus. It takes weeks, but eventually the small black dot begins to grow and eventually bloom.

3 / This year was a fruitful bloom with over 30 flowers opening up.

4 / To see a cactus bloom for the first time is a reminder of how nature lives and breathes around us. Unfortunately they only bloom for 1 day before shriveling up and falling off the cactus.
