Hike To Bonsai Rock Lake Tahoe

Four Spectacular Photos of Lake Tahoe on a short hike down to the popular Whale and Bonsai Rocks.

1 / The initial descent is an easy walk, or foot-shuffle, through some loose Tahoe dirt, fallen trees and overgrown bushes. About half way down, I looked across the lake to the southwest and fell into a Thomas Kincade canvas.

2 / Just above lake level I had to scramble through a short outcropping of Tahoe sized boulders. When I reached the top I came across this the old rope and tire. I opted for a safer photo-op than a swing into big blue.

3 / A few steps along the shore and I discover Whale Rock. It is amazing that for as long as I have lived in this area that I can keep discovering new sites and beautiful landscapes to photograph.

4 / Back at the top along Hwy 28. You may wondering where is the Bonsai Rock photo? There were just too many people out enjoying the lake today, which is okay, because it gives me a reason to come back and enjoy this amazing place again.
