Five Guiding Principals To My Art
- I am not just a photographer, or someone who takes pretty pictures to sell. I am an artist. I create for the human experience: to connect, share and appreciate.
- Outside of my local surroundings I visit at least three new locations each year to explore and discover. Whether urban or backwoods, the adventure inspires my creativity and amplifies my true being. I look for the uncommon and photograph what reveals itself most to me.
- Never shoot for commercial gain alone. Each piece of art I create has a story and is not just a picture. It's first purpose is to connect with its audience directly, inspiring a memory or story within them to also share with others.
- Don't over edit or embellish the moment using digital methods. I believe that all my art should be able to also be re-created with a film camera and darkroom. There is nothing wrong with digitally-touching up a photo until you swap out a sky or add soft-rays of sun which were never there to begin with.
- You be you and I will be me. Together, we will make richer the world with our creativity, inspiration and art.
